Employment Counsel

We are working exclusively with a leading global financial services organisation to appoint an Employment Counsel into its London legal team.

This is a broad employment role offering significant autonomy, visibility, and international exposure. You will act as the principal legal contact for UK employment matters, supporting a UK employee population of approximately 900–950, while also gaining exposure to employment issues across a number of other jurisdictions.

The role sits within a well-established global employment legal team and will work closely with HR and senior stakeholders across the business.

  • Day-to-day UK employment law advice and support to HR
  • Employee relations matters, including performance, disciplinary, grievance, and termination issues
  • Organisational change and restructuring
  • Drafting and reviewing employment documentation, policies, and agreements
  • Compensation, benefits, and incentive arrangements
  • Employment aspects of acquisitions and wider corporate projects
  • Regulatory and employment-related reporting requirements
  • Global employment projects, including areas such as pay transparency
  • Supporting employment matters across Ireland and potentially a number of other international jurisdictions

Alongside the UK remit, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the wider international business and contribute to global employment initiatives.

About you

We are looking for a UK-qualified employment lawyer, ideally around 5–7+ years’ PQE, although there is flexibility for the right person.

You are likely to have:

  • Strong UK employment law experience gained within private practice, in-house, or a combination of both
  • Experience advising independently across a broad range of employment matters
  • Confidence working closely with HR and senior business stakeholders
  • The ability to take ownership of matters while operating as part of a wider international legal team
  • An interest in gaining broader cross-border and global employment exposure

This is an excellent opportunity for an employment lawyer looking to take real ownership of a UK remit within a sophisticated global financial services business, while still benefiting from the support and exposure of an international legal function.
