Employment Partner | Boutique Employment Firm | London
Ortus Group has been retained by a market-leading boutique claimant-focused employment law firm to appoint a senior Employment Partner as part of the next stage of the firm's growth.
The firm has established an exceptional reputation for representing employees, senior executives, and partners in complex and often highly sensitive employment matters.
The practice is particularly recognized for its expertise across:
- Disability discrimination and workplace mental health
- Neurodiversity
- Whistleblowing
- Harassment and discrimination
- Pregnancy and maternity discrimination
- Senior executive exits and settlement agreements
- Partnership and workplace disputes
- Restrictive covenants
This is not simply an opportunity to join an established practice and inherit a caseload. The firm is looking strategically at the next stage of its development and wants to appoint a senior lawyer who can become an important part of that journey.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The successful individual will join an established, highly regarded team with an excellent flow of sophisticated claimant work, but will also have the opportunity to develop their own practice, influence the future direction of the firm, and help shape how the business grows.
We are particularly interested in speaking with senior lawyers who have genuine experience acting for individuals and who enjoy the commercial and entrepreneurial side of building a practice. A substantial portable following is not the defining requirement.
More important is your reputation, technical ability, relationships within the market, and the potential to develop your practice from an established and highly regarded platform.
The firm is also open-minded about complementary areas of expertise. Lawyers with practices incorporating partnership disputes, restrictive covenants, or related contentious work would be particularly interesting where that expertise complements the firm's existing client base.
