Interim Employment Lawyer
About the role
A well-established UK law firm is looking for an interim employment lawyer to add capacity to its employment team while it recruits for several permanent roles. The team acts mainly for respondents— charities, social enterprises and commercial organisations across the UK— alongside some claimant work. This is a genuine all-rounder role: you'll manage your own caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including conducting employment tribunal claims yourself, mainly for respondents, and work alongside partners and associates to relieve pressure on existing caseloads. The focus is squarely on client delivery rather than business development.
You will:
- Manage your own caseload of employment matters with minimal supervision
- Strong employment tribunal experience, particularly acting for respondents
- Advise on a range of non-contentious employment issues
- Advise charities, social enterprises and commercial clients across the UK
- Work alongside partners and associates to relieve pressure on existing caseloads

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
