We are actively seeking an Employment Lawyer
We are actively seeking an Employment Lawyer to support our client, a major e-commerce travel brand in the tech industry, for a 6-month fixed term contract. This near-term position is hybrid (1-2 days per week onsite) out of our client’s office in London (Zone 1).
Requirements
We are actively seeking an Employment Lawyer with the following credentials:
- 7+ years’ post-qualification experience (qualified lawyer in UK or other European Jurisdiction), with a focus on global employment law.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid role requiring 1-2 days per week in-office attendance in Central London, Zone 1.
- Experience operating in a complex multinational organization, ideally with a US HQ.
- Exceptionally strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative work ethic.
- Commercially pragmatic and solutions focused with the ability to develop strong working relationships with business stakeholders and colleagues.
- General Works Council knowledge a plus.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
Epiq Counsel partners with industry-leading clients in support of their sophisticated interim talent needs. Must be interested in practising in an alternative, fixed-term legal services model.
Responsibilities
Support our client as follows:
- Support on Employee Relations (“ER”) matters in high volume countries (Spain, Switzerland and India).
- UK Employment Rights Act 2025 readiness - partner with UK ER team.
- HR Data Subject Access Request (“DSARs”) (UK and EMEA).
- First point of contact for EMEA related queries from GTA including early careers team (non-competes, contract interpretation, offer withdrawal etc.), HR Operations queries including background screening questions, Compensation and benefits queries (not projects), and Mobility/Immigration queries.
- Employment law support on commercial contracts (misclassification, TUPE etc.).
- Support vendor/e-Talent matters with the procurement team.
- Triage and handle regular UK and International queries (including CZ, Spain, India).
- Support additional ER matters relating to performance/conduct/absence/parental rights/discrimination in EMEA and LATAM as they arise.
- Lead and support the creation of standard templates in keeping with the client's style, approach and risk appetite.
- Use judgment on issue-spotting potential Works Council issues for different international Employee Resource Boards.
- Provide clear, timely advice to business, product and tech teams on commercial, regulatory, consumer protection, marketing, and other relevant legal issues, including managing pre-litigation disputes where needed.
