Employment Lawyer - Stockport Council
Location: Stockport / Hybrid
Salary: £52,000-£59,000
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week

CRA Consulting are currently recruiting for a permanent Employment Lawyer opportunity with Stockport Council, joining their Legal and Democratic Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Employment Lawyer to join a supportive in-house legal team and advise the Council across a broad range of employment matters.

The Role

You will provide clear and practical legal advice across a varied employment caseload, including:

  • Employment Tribunal claims and contentious employment matters
  • Unfair dismissal and discrimination
  • Grievances and disciplinary proceedings
  • Redundancy and organisational change
  • TUPE
  • Settlement agreements
  • Employment contracts, policies and procedures
  • Day-to-day employment advice to HR and Council departments
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to manage legal risk
  • Contributing to team precedents, guidance and internal knowledge

About You

We're looking for an experienced Employment Lawyer who:

  • Is a qualified Solicitor or equivalent
  • Has strong Employment Law experience
  • Has experience advising employers
  • Is confident handling contentious and non-contentious employment matters
  • Can manage their own caseload effectively
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Can provide pragmatic and practical legal advice
  • Works well as part of a wider Legal and HR team

Local Authority or wider public sector experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Stockport Council offers a supportive and flexible working environment, with a strong focus on employee wellbeing and professional development. You'll have the opportunity to work within a sizeable, multi-disciplinary Legal team on a varied and interesting caseload.
