Salary: Up to £85,000 per annum + car allowance + bonus + benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Employment Legal Counsel to join the in-house legal team of a leading UK organisation.

This is a hands-on employment litigation role, offering the opportunity to take ownership of a varied and complex caseload across a large, operationally focused organisation.

The role is primarily remote/home-based, but will involve regular national travel for Employment Tribunal hearings and other court-related matters, across London, the Midlands, the South West and the North of England. All business travel and overnight accommodation will be expensed. There will also be some travel to the organisation's Hertfordshire region headquarters for team meetings and wider collaboration.

The Role

Working as part of the in-house legal function, you will provide expert employment law advice across a broad and varied employee relations and litigation caseload. A key focus of the role will be the end-to-end management of Employment Tribunal claims, working closely with HR, Employee Relations, operational leaders and other legal colleagues to manage risk and achieve commercially appropriate outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing Employment Tribunal claims end-to-end, including case strategy, pleadings, drafting, witness evidence, disclosure, bundles and hearing preparation.
• Advising on ACAS Early Conciliation, judicial mediation, settlement strategy and other routes to early resolution.
• Preparing cases for and, where required, attending Employment Tribunal hearings and other court-related proceedings.
• Supporting high-risk and complex employee relations matters before they escalate into litigation.
• Working closely with Employee Relations, People teams, operational leaders and legal colleagues on employment risk, case management and decision-making.
• Providing clear, commercially focused legal advice that balances legal merits, cost, operational considerations and reputational risk.
• Identifying recurring themes and emerging legal risks across the caseload and helping the organisation develop stronger governance and earlier intervention.
• Providing practical guidance and legal updates to HR and Employee Relations stakeholders.
• Supporting capability building across the wider ER function and helping stakeholders understand employment law risk and best practice.
