About The Role
As an Employment and Skills Mentor, you will play a key frontline role in the launch and delivery of Telford College’s new Youth Hub, based within the Skills Shop in Telford Town Centre.
The Youth Hub provides dedicated support to young people aged 16–24, helping them take positive steps towards employment, apprenticeships, education and training. You will work directly with young people, managing a caseload and providing practical, personalised employability support tailored to their individual goals and circumstances.
Your role will include building confidence and motivation, identifying and overcoming barriers to progression, developing CV and interview skills, supporting job searches and applications, and connecting young people with employers, vacancies, work experience, apprenticeships and training opportunities.
This is a proactive, people-focused and outcomes-driven role for someone who can build positive relationships, inspire and motivate young people, and help them turn their aspirations into realistic and achievable next steps.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
