Employment Associate/Senior Associate (2+ PQE)
Manchester or Leeds | Leading International Firm | Contentious Employment Focus
Salary depending on PQE level and experience
A leading international law firm is looking to recruit an Employment Associate to join its highly regarded team in Manchester or Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity for an employment lawyer with at least 2 years' PQE who is keen to work on a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters. While the role includes strategic advisory work, it has a significant litigation focus, making it particularly well-suited to candidates who are comfortable managing complex disputes and Employment Tribunal proceedings.
The Role
You'll advise a diverse range of national and international clients on a variety of employment law issues, including:
- Complex Employment Tribunal litigation
- Strategic employment law advice
- Senior-level grievances and workplace investigations
- Discrimination, harassment and whistleblowing claims
- Restructuring and redundancy projects
- Cross-border employment matters
- Senior executive and boardroom issues
- Employment aspects of M&A transactions and outsourcing projects

The successful candidate will enjoy a genuinely varied practice. Whilst advisory work forms an important part of the role, it is not the sole focus, with a substantial amount of contentious work and dispute resolution at its core.
There will also be opportunities to gain exposure to high-value and High Court litigation, providing excellent experience for lawyers who enjoy handling complex and business-critical disputes.
About You
You'll ideally have:
- A minimum of 2 years' PQE in employment law gained within a commercial practice
- Strong experience handling Employment Tribunal claims and contentious employment matters
- Experience advising on complex workplace disputes, discrimination and whistleblowing issues
- Excellent technical and drafting skills
- Strong commercial awareness and client management capabilities
- The ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues across offices and disciplines
- A desire to play an active role in business development and team growth
