Harrington Raine
Harrington Raine is a new UK regulatory consultancy providing HR, Employment Law and Health & Safety support to employers.
We are looking for an Employment Solicitor to become one of the first members of our advisory team and take genuine ownership of client relationships.
This is not a traditional private-practice role.
There is no requirement to build a following, generate fees, attend networking events or hit a chargeable-hours target. Your role is to give employers excellent Employment Law advice, help them make sensible commercial decisions and prepare the documentation they need to act.
The role
You will act as a Primary Advisor to a portfolio of employer clients. That means getting to know their businesses, understanding the outcome they are trying to achieve and advising them on the quickest lawful and defensible route forward.
You will deal directly with business owners, Managing Directors, HR professionals and other senior decision-makers. Typical work will include:
- disciplinary and misconduct matters
- grievances
- sickness absence
- performance and capability
- dismissals and exits
- redundancy and restructuring
- settlement discussions
- employment contracts and policies
- TUPE
- Acas Early Conciliation
- other day-to-day Employment Law and employee-relations issues

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Employment Tribunal experience would be a significant advantage but is not essential for the right candidate. You will also draft the letters, correspondence, scripts and other documentation needed to put your advice into practice.
What we are looking for
We are more interested in whether you can do the job well than whether you fit an exact PQE bracket. You are likely to be a solicitor with approximately 1–3 years’ Employment Law experience, although we will consider candidates outside that range where their experience fits the role.
You should be able to:
- advise employers confidently with limited routine supervision
- communicate clearly and confidently by telephone and video
- make practical recommendations rather than simply explain the law
- draft high-quality Employment Law documentation
- manage several live matters simultaneously
- exercise sound commercial judgement
- build trusted long-term client relationships
- recognise when a matter requires escalation or specialist input

Employer-side experience is important. TUPE experience is highly desirable. Employment Tribunal defence experience would be particularly valuable.
