I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you'll need to succeed

Applications are welcomed from Employment Solicitors between NQ and 6 years' PQE. For NQ candidates, it is essential that you have gained at least 12 months' substantive employment law experience prior to qualification, rather than solely through an employment seat during your training contract. You should have experience across a range of employment law matters, including exposure to Employment Tribunal work and settlement agreements, together with strong technical, organisational and client management skills. The successful candidate will be commercially aware, capable of managing their own workload and keen to contribute to a collaborative and growing team.

What you'll get in return

This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving employment team within a highly regarded firm that is continuing to grow. You'll benefit from a competitive salary and benefits package, flexible and hybrid working options, exposure to high-quality and varied employment work, and clear opportunities to develop your career within a supportive and collaborative environment.
