Are you newly qualified, or in the early stages of your career as a solicitor, and looking for an opportunity to develop into a confident and well-rounded employment lawyer?
My Law Solicitors is a growing specialist employment law firm based in Wakefield. We advise both employees and employers across England and Wales on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
We're looking for a junior Employment Solicitor to join our team.
This role is about development.
You'll work directly with clients, gain exposure to a broad range of employment law matters and gradually develop your own caseload, while working alongside experienced Employment Solicitors who are there to support you as your knowledge and confidence grow.

The Role
You'll gain experience across a broad range of employment law matters, which may include:
- Unfair and constructive dismissal
- Discrimination and Equality Act claims
- Employment Tribunal proceedings
- Grievance and disciplinary matters
- Redundancy and restructuring
- Workplace disputes
- Settlement negotiations
- Settlement Agreements
- Employment contracts and general employment law advice
You'll have the opportunity to work with matters from initial instruction through to conclusion, developing your skills in taking instructions, providing legal advice, drafting, negotiation, case management and client care.
You won't simply be observing more experienced solicitors. We want you to have meaningful client contact and responsibility from an early stage, with the appropriate supervision and support around you.
As your experience develops, so will the level of responsibility you are given.

About My Law Solicitors
We're a specialist employment law firm based in Wakefield, advising employees and employers throughout England and Wales.
We're also a relatively small and growing firm.
For the right person, we think that creates an excellent environment in which to develop your career.
You won't be one junior solicitor amongst dozens of others. You'll work closely with experienced Employment Solicitors, have direct access to the people running the firm and have the opportunity to become an important part of the team as we continue to grow.
We care enormously about the service we provide to our clients, but we also believe that excellent work doesn't require a culture of unnecessary pressure or excessive working hours.
Our standard working hours are 8:00am–4:00pm, Monday to Friday.
When the working day finishes, we want our team to be able to enjoy their lives outside work.
About You
We're primarily looking for someone who is newly qualified or in the early stages of their career and genuinely wants to specialise in employment law.
You should:
- Be a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales, or approaching qualification with relevant employment law experience.
- Have previous exposure to employment law, whether during your training, in a previous paralegal role or following qualification.
- Have a genuine interest in developing a long-term career in employment law.
- Be an excellent communicator who enjoys working directly with clients.
- Be able to explain complicated issues clearly and practically.
- Be organised, conscientious and attentive to detail.
- Be comfortable taking responsibility while also recognising when to ask for support.
- Care about delivering an excellent standard of client service.
- Work well as part of a close-knit team.
- Be able to reliably commute to our Wakefield office.
We don't expect a junior solicitor to know everything.
We're much more interested in finding someone with good foundations, the right attitude and a genuine desire to develop.

What We Offer
- £35,000–£45,000 salary, depending on experience.
- 8:00am–4:00pm, Monday to Friday.
