6-Month Temporary Assignment
Sellick Partnership is working with a leading UK organisation to recruit an experienced Employment Tribunal Advocate/Employment Solicitor for an initial 6-month temporary assignment within its established Advocacy Team.
If you’re an Employment Solicitor who enjoys being at the sharp end of Tribunal work, this is an opportunity to lead on cases, manage your own caseload and undertake advocacy, rather than simply providing advisory support.
The Role
You’ll join an established Advocacy team dealing with specifically with Employment Tribunal matters that have progressed beyond the organisation’s general employment advice function. The role is highly hands-on, with responsibility for taking ownership of Tribunal claims from the outset and progressing matters through to resolution.
You’ll manage a significant caseload, working closely with internal stakeholders and clients while preparing cases for hearings and representing clients where required. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to utilise their advocacy and litigation experience immediately.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of a substantial caseload of Employment Tribunal claims.
- Lead cases from initial instruction through to final hearing and resolution.
- Conduct advocacy at Employment Tribunal hearings across the Midlands and wider UK.
- Draft and review ET1s, ET3s, pleadings, witness statements and other Tribunal documentation.
- Manage disclosure, evidence and preparation for hearings.
- Provide clear, practical advice on litigation strategy and prospects.
- Manage competing deadlines across a high-volume caseload.
- Work closely with the wider employment advice team as matters progress into Tribunal.
- Build strong relationships with clients and provide confident representation throughout the Tribunal process.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
