Employment Tribunal Advocate

Remote-first (1 day a month in office) | UK-wide | Up to £70,000+ bonus

We are working with a well-established and growing legal practice that is looking to appoint an Employment Tribunal Advocate to join its busy employment team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced employment advocate who enjoys being in the tribunal, taking ownership of cases and representing clients through to the final hearing.

Our client has a substantial national employment client base and a growing volume of contentious employment work. With the team continuing to expand, they are looking for someone who can take a lead role in defending Employment Tribunal claims and provide high-quality advocacy for their clients.

The Role

You will be responsible for defending Employment Tribunal claims from the early stages through to conclusion, including:

  • Drafting responses and pleadings.
  • Advising clients on tribunal claims and litigation strategy.
  • Preparing cases for hearing, including evidence and witness statements.
  • Conducting preliminary and case management hearings.
  • Representing clients at full Employment Tribunal hearings, including multi-day hearings.
  • Handling advocacy on cases initially run by other members of the employment team.
  • Taking ownership of your own caseload and running matters through to resolution.
  • Working directly with clients and providing clear, commercially focused advice.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The majority of hearings are now conducted remotely, although you will need to be comfortable travelling to Employment Tribunals across the UK when required.

About You

Our client is particularly interested in candidates who have genuine Employment Tribunal advocacy experience and are comfortable conducting full hearings. You may be a:

  • Solicitor with strong contentious employment experience.
  • Barrister looking to work closely with a substantial client base.
  • Experienced employment advocate who has developed significant tribunal experience without formal solicitor or barrister qualification.

Formal qualification isn’t essential, the key priority is strong advocacy experience and a proven track record of running Employment Tribunal hearings.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong Employment Tribunal advocacy experience.
  • Experience conducting full and potentially multi-day hearings.
  • A strong working knowledge of UK employment law.
  • The ability to manage cases autonomously from inception through to hearing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The confidence to deal directly with clients, opponents and tribunals.
  • A commercially minded and pragmatic approach to litigation.

Why This Role?

If you are an employment lawyer or advocate who actually enjoys advocacy, this is an opportunity to make it a central part of your career.

You will have the opportunity to conduct full Employment Tribunal hearings, build a significant advocacy portfolio and take ownership of your own matters, rather than being limited to advisory work or handing cases over when they reach hearing.

Our client is also genuinely open-minded about qualification. If you have the advocacy experience and can demonstrate that you can run Employment Tribunal cases effectively, they want to hear from you.

Applications will be treated in the strictest confidence. To express your interest, apply online or please contact:
