I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Here’s The Facts About The Role
As an End User Technology Support Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery, maintenance, and continual improvement of IT services across the organisation. Working as part of a collaborative IT team, you’ll assist with the evaluation, testing, trials, and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies and services, helping to develop project scopes, business cases, and implementation plans. You’ll also support Service Transition activities, ensuring new products and services are successfully introduced into live operation and incorporated into the IT service catalogue.
A key part of the role will involve supporting the employee lifecycle from an IT perspective. This includes provisioning system access for new starters, building and configuring hardware, delivering IT inductions, and ensuring new employees have the tools they need to be productive from day one. You will also process leavers and employee role changes, ensuring user accounts are updated or disabled appropriately, and that company-issued equipment is returned promptly.
