Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Lead

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Senior Endoscopy Nurses or ODPs to join the team as Endoscopy Lead at our client's Acute Hospital site based in beautiful Bath, Somerset.

The Unit operates from 08.00 - 18.00, Monday-Friday and occasional Saturdays.

As the successful applicant, you will:

  • Be responsible and accountable for the daily management of the endo and decontamination suite, managing a wide range of priorities, including staff management.
  • Ensure the JAG accreditation standards are met, British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) guidance, and the National and Local decontamination guidance is followed.
  • Perform the tasks of preassessment and endoscopy assistant during procedures (sedation and GA), when required, in collaboration with other members of the MDT.
  • Be responsible for the professional development of the endoscopy team and overall work performance.

The Endoscopy Unit undertakes diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy investigations such as Colonoscopy, Gastroscopy, Polypectomy, Cystoscopy and TOE, and starting a new Colon Capsules initiative.

The Hospital has 28 en-suite single inpatient beds, 22 day-case beds and 5 ambulatory care beds.

Facilities include:

  • 9 consulting rooms
  • 4 state-of-the-art operating theatres (2 with laminar flow)
  • A JAG accredited Endoscopy suite
  • A dedicated cardiology suite and intervention treatment room
  • A dedicated physiotherapy department with a gym and four treatment rooms
  • A Digital diagnostic unit with CT, MRI, General X-ray and Ultrasound

Person Requirements

  • RGN or ODP with appropriate NMC/HCPC registration as applicable
  • At least two years in a Senior Endoscopy Practitioner post with a good range of Endoscopy clinical skills
  • Experienced in taking charge of the suite; managing and motivating team members
  • Experienced in the processes of JAG accreditation
  • Experience and knowledge of decontamination and requirements of national standards
