Energy Analytics Engineer

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus annual bonus and other Veolia benefits.

Location: Hybrid - London, Kingscross N1 9JY

Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week, Monday - Friday)

Responsibilities

  • Data ingestion: Work to build, test and implement solutions for new data acquisition, building end to end process to support the entire department. Using python, connect to various third party APIs, returning complex data from multiple endpoints. Implement processes to retain and refresh this data within business systems.
  • Data Modeling: Using the businesses preferred ETL tools, generate curated datasets from raw input tables. Ensure all datasets have clear, documented lineage and integrated testing to protect against bad data entering datasets and polluting downstream data models.
  • Database Development/Management: Supporting development and operation of databases that can be used for invoice validation / cost reconciliation / supplier portfolio management. Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other relevant tools.
  • Analysis: Automate routine analysis to drive reporting delivering rich business intelligence.
  • Reporting: Support the Energy Data Analyst to migrate complex models within existing reports to materialize tables within the businesses data platform.
  • Communication and Reporting: Creation/Calculation/Distribution of relevant information and reports to stakeholders
  • Governance: Maintain procedures and controls required to ensure correct operation and updates of databases and third party software.
  • Teamwork: Interact on a regular basis with the front, middle and back office, DSR team, Operations, Finance and senior management.
  • Compliance with all H&S policies & procedures
  • Working with both internal and external customers on how they can use the tools that are deployed with them
  • Work with our department and external customers to understand requirements and find the best solution to meet their needs
  • Build proof of concepts with the business to showcase what we provide to meet their requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues promptly.
  • Provide training and support to non-technical users to maximise the utilisation of analytics tools.
  • Support with driving solutions to help Veolia with our purpose of ecological transformation
  • Drive and support the roll out and delivery of our carbon reporting for both internal and external customers.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data engineering, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in data engineering and analytics, with expertise in Power BI, dbt, Databricks, and Azure.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data manipulation libraries and frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and big data technologies.
