Company Description
SustainPlan is a design-led sustainability and compliance consultancy supporting property, construction, and development projects. The team helps project stakeholders address energy, planning, MEP, and building compliance requirements from the earliest project stages, before key design decisions are finalized. SustainPlan follows a four-stage approach—Feasibility & Planning, Design & Compliance, MEP Design & Integration, and Handover & Sign-off—to provide a clear path through complex technical requirements. This integrated method aligns design, energy strategy, building fabric, systems thinking, and sign-off processes to reduce late-stage issues and improve project outcomes. Clients include architects, developers, contractors, consultants, and property owners who seek proactive, outcome-focused compliance support.
Role Description
The Energy & Building Compliance Consultant (SAP / SBEM / TM59) is a full-time remote role responsible for delivering high-quality energy and building compliance advice across residential and non-residential projects. Day-to-day tasks include conducting SAP, SBEM, and TM59 assessments, preparing compliance reports, and advising project teams on strategies to meet and exceed regulatory standards. The consultant will collaborate closely with architects, developers, and MEP engineers to integrate energy performance, building fabric, and systems considerations into early-stage designs. Responsibilities also include reviewing drawings and specifications, identifying compliance risks and opportunities, and recommending practical design optimizations. The role involves communicating findings clearly to clients, supporting planning submissions, and contributing to continuous improvement of internal tools, templates, and workflows.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
