West Berkshire Council is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Energy & Carbon Officer to join our Climate and Ecological Emergency Team on a maternity cover basis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of energy and carbon reduction services and support our community in achieving a greener future.
The Role
As the Energy & Carbon Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering energy and carbon reduction services to a diverse range of businesses and organisations within the West Berkshire area.
- Providing advice and guidance to help organisations implement energy-saving measures and reduce their carbon emissions.
- Monitoring and analysing energy consumption data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Supporting the development and implementation of energy and carbon reduction programmes.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to promote and encourage participation in sustainability initiatives.
- Contributing to the reporting and evaluation of energy and carbon reduction achievements.
To excel in this role, you should have the following skills and attributes:
- A good understanding of energy management principles and carbon reduction strategies.
- Experience in providing advice and support on energy efficiency measures.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate a range of stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Organised and able to manage multiple priorities, delivering work to deadlines.

This is a fixed term role for 6 months from start date (Maternity cover). Looking for someone to start ASAP.

You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service. (Pro rata for fixed term)
