Salary: £46,636-£58,937 + standby retainer c£4,000 and London Allowance (subject to eligibility)
Location: Central London, Farringdon
About the Role
As a Maintenance Engineer you will be responsible for completing routine and emergency maintenance to the equipment within the Energy Centres which include CHP engines, boilers, pump systems, electrical and control systems, as well as equipment associated with customer connections.
Your duties include:
- Responding to reports of broken or faulty items
- Conducting routine inspections of equipment
- Liaising with external specialists and contractors
- Supporting with planning, coordinating, and completing maintenance activities for all mechanical, electrical, and C&I issues that impact/are likely to impact plant performance
- Identifying issues and improvements
The purpose is to reduce unplanned unavailability, keeping our customers on supply 24/7 and improve the performance of the assets while ensuring all major costs are identified early in the process to assist with business planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the annual scheduling of maintenance activities to minimize contract labour requirements
- Deliver maintenance of plant to meet and exceed business KPIs
- Deliver and support analysis of plant issues, providing technical advice with input into decision making, contract processes, and corrective actions
- To work as part of the CE Operations Team to ensure the optimised operation and maintenance of the assets
- Support the identification and implementation of improvements to all areas that affect plant performance
- Participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours breakdowns and support the wider CES and E.ON business
- Responsibility for budget management/purchasing authority up to £25k in designated task areas
- Assist in operational short-term operational planning (up to 6 months)

What We Need from You
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent along with expertise in general engineering principles, with expertise in a specialist skill area - C&I, Mechanical, or Electrical
- An IOSH (Working Safely) or equivalent qualification as a minimum, demonstrating a clear knowledge of safety practices and management
- The capability and willingness to achieve E.ON's required competency levels - Authorised Engineer
- Competent in hazard identification, risk assessment, and management of risks
- A working knowledge of key PC-based computer systems and maintenance/information management systems (CMMS)
- Planning and organisational skills to include effective task prioritization and resource management
- The ability to innovate and appropriately challenge existing processes to improve efficiency
It Would Be Great If You Had
- Fork Lift Licence and experience
- Contract Management skills to appropriately challenge contractors on the methods, quality, and standards of work
- HV SAP under Eon Safety Rules
Here’s What You Need to Know
- There is a London allowance of up to £3,550 PA available for eligible candidates. This is a central London-based role with travel required to other sites within the area. A company van & fuel card will be provided.
- The successful candidate will join a Call Out Rota 1 week in 4, with a standby retainer of circa £4,000 pa. Overtime for callouts will be paid in addition to this.
