About the Role
As an Energy Data Analyst within the Energy Management division at Optimised, you will be monitoring and analysing energy consumption data to identify efficiency opportunities across client portfolios. You will ensure high-quality reporting, develop actionable insights, and support strategic decision-making through data-driven recommendations. The role involves close collaboration with clients, engineers, and internal stakeholders to deliver tailored energy solutions. Additionally, you lead process improvements and contribute to the development of Optimised’s data analytics capabilities.
The role offers broad exposure to energy data systems, client reporting and analytical processes, with the opportunity to develop practical skills in data quality management, report writing and client communication as your confidence and capability grows.
We understand that candidates have varying experiences, and it is unlikely that all aspects of the role description will be an exact match. Please do not be deterred if that is the case – we would still welcome your application if you are passionate about our vision and have relevant experience.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field.
- A genuinely inquisitive mindset, someone who interrogates what the data and analysis mean, questioning results and asking what should happen next, rather than simply producing and issuing reports.
- Experience using AI tools to support analysis, drafting or report writing in a professional setting.
- Experience working with large data sets.
- Highly numerate, with excellent knowledge of Office applications, especially MS Excel. Experience of Python, SQL including VBA would be desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy and consistency when working with data and information.
- Shows understanding of degree days, how they are calculated and how they can be used in analysing energy consumption data (desirable).
- Experience using or an interest in developing skills with data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Knowledge of or interest in the energy sector, including how energy is measured, monitored and managed across buildings and portfolios.
- Understanding of or exposure to energy data concepts such as half-hourly data, AMR metering, BMS or IoT systems (desirable).
- Experience using project management, workflow or reporting systems within an operational or academic environment (desirable).
- Confident building strong working relationships with clients and communicating directly and proactively with them, not only through written reports, alongside the ability to work collaboratively as part of a close-knit internal team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a close-knit team and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
- Comfortable working with data and numbers, with a logical and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Ability to manage own workload and priorities effectively, with a proactive and organised approach to tasks and responsibilities.
- A positive, flexible and committed attitude with a genuine drive to learn, develop and contribute to the team.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
