Environmental Specialist – Energy Efficiency (Field Technical Role)

Key Responsibilities
As a Technical Evaluator & Field Specialist, you will:
- Lead technical evaluations and support energy efficiency programs for commercial and industrial clients.
- Conduct onsite and virtual inspections to verify installations, collect data, and deploy metering equipment.
- Perform energy and peak demand savings calculations using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
- Provide technical assistance, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Research emerging technologies, funding opportunities, and best practices in energy efficiency.
- Analyze energy performance for new construction projects and LEED-certified developments.
- Support QA/QC reviews, benefit-cost analyses, and program evaluations.
- Prepare clear, data-driven reports and presentations for clients and leadership.
- Maintain accurate records of site inspections, findings, and documentation.
- Coordinate with internal engineers and project managers on complex initiatives.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings, conference calls, and virtual discussions.
- Ensure proper filing, documentation, and data management.
- Engage professionally with customers, contractors, and team members.
- Execute additional tasks as required.

Qualifications & Experience
Education & Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in:
- Energy efficiency consulting
- Construction projects
- Lighting/HVAC optimisation
- Field technical roles
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in probability, statistics, and regression analysis.
- Experience with QA/QC review processes.
- Familiarity with energy modelling software (e.g., eQUEST, Trane TRACE).
- Industrial/manufacturing processes knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities.
Soft Skills & Work Style
- Strong verbal and written communication (including virtual environments).
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
- Comfortable working remotely via hybrid or full telepractice.
- Solid time-management and organisational skills.
- Excel proficiency (multi-tab management, pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Mastery of Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel [including advanced functions], Teams, SharePoint).
- Thrive in high-volume, fast-paced workloads with shifting priorities.

Location & Travel
- 50% travel requirement (domestic and potential trips to Canada).
- Valid driver’s licence and personal vehicle access mandatory.
