About the client
Our client is one of the largest independent specialty insurance distributors in the world, with a significant London market presence placing US-sourced risk. They work with wholesale and retail producers across the US, giving brokers direct access to a deep and growing flow of energy business.
The London energy team is growing and is looking to add a technically strong liability specialist who can build relationships on both sides of the Atlantic.
The role
- Place onshore and offshore energy liability risks (upstream, midstream and downstream) for US wholesale and retail clients
- Prepare market submissions, negotiate terms and secure capacity with Lloyd's and company market underwriters
- Manage a portfolio of new and renewal business, driving retention and account growth
- Build and maintain strong relationships with US producing brokers and London underwriters
- Advise clients on coverage, limits, structure and market conditions
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the energy liability space
- Ensure accurate placement documentation and compliance with regulatory and internal standards
- Work closely with the wider energy and casualty teams on cross-class opportunities

Candidate profile
This role is strictly for brokers with a proven energy liability background; general casualty experience alone will not be considered.
Essential
- Demonstrable experience broking energy liability in the London Market
- Experience placing US-sourced business, ideally via wholesale or retail channels
- Strong technical knowledge of energy liability wordings, coverage and market capacity
- Established relationships with energy liability underwriters across Lloyd's and the company market
- Confident negotiator with excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable
- Experience at a specialist London Market or global broker with a dedicated energy practice
- An existing book or network of US producing brokers
- ACII or working towards the CII qualification
Package and how to apply
Base salary of £85,000 – £130,000 depending on experience, plus a competitive benefits package.
