Overview of the Role
We are looking for a technically strong Energy Market Data Analytics specialist to sit at the intersection of data engineering, quantitative modelling, and power trading. In this role, you will build and maintain the analytical infrastructure that informs short-term trading and portfolio decisions across European and US power markets, working closely with power hedging, portfolio management, and investment teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the team's data lake infrastructure, ensuring reliable, scalable data pipelines feed into downstream models
- Take ownership of the market fundamental model, ETRM system, and quantitative models, maintaining their integrity and evolving them as market conditions and business needs change
- Build short-term market analytics models that directly support trading decisions in European and US power markets
- Provide quantitative support to portfolio management and hedging teams as they optimize positions and hedging strategy
- Regularly report fundamental and quantitative outputs to leadership, translating technical analysis into clear insights that inform investment and portfolio decisions
- Collaborate with the Data team to support and contribute to the development of the Clean Haven data product
- Collaborate closely with the wider asset management and investment teams to ensure data integrity and consistency across systems
- Document systems and processes to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer
- Own and maintain the Power Hedging team's source control, including repository
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
- Strong proficiency in Python for data analytics and modelling; JavaScript is a plus
- Solid understanding of European power markets and the fundamentals driving price behaviour
- Experience with automation tools and building efficient, repeatable workflows
- Practical experience applying LLM tools in an analytical or research context
- Strong grounding in data modelling and architecture principles

Competencies Required
- Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insight
- Ability to work cross-functionally with trading, portfolio management, and investment teams
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders and leadership
- High attention to detail and ownership mindset, particularly around data integrity and system reliability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, market-driven environment with evolving priorities
- Strong documentation habits and commitment to knowledge sharing
