Energy & Power Director

Location: North West England

Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

The Opportunity

A leading engineering and infrastructure services organisation is seeking an experienced Energy & Power Director to lead the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary projects across the power and energy sector.

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for operational performance, commercial success, client relationships, and strategic growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering major infrastructure programmes that support the UK's energy transition and net-zero ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full accountability for the successful delivery of multiple complex design-and-build projects.
  • Lead and develop a team of project managers, engineers, and technical specialists.
  • Oversee the complete project lifecycle, from design and planning through to delivery and handover.
  • Manage commercial performance, profitability, and risk across a portfolio of projects.
  • Act as the senior client interface, building long-term strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and framework obligations.
  • Drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and business growth.
  • Support business development activities, including tendering and securing new opportunities.

About You

We're looking for a commercially minded leader with a strong track record within the power, energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Engineering qualifications such as HNC, ONC, City & Guilds, or equivalent.
  • NEC4 Project Management accreditation.
  • Senior leadership experience within a utility contracting, infrastructure, or engineering environment.
  • Proven experience managing P&L responsibility exceeding £5m.
  • Strong commercial, contractual, and tendering expertise.
  • Experience managing Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contracts.
  • Budget management, estimating, and financial control experience.
  • Strong stakeholder and customer relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrable success leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Previous experience within the Power & Energy sector.
