£55,000+ | Uncapped Commission (£350,000 Average Earnings)
Preston, Lancashire | Full-time | Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
★ OPENING JANUARY 2027 — INTERVIEWS FROM LATE SEPTEMBER 2026 ★
If you’re interested in this role, you already know what you’re looking for. You expect a platform where your energy experience and closing ability directly determines your income. No commission ceiling! You want a reliable pipeline built by strong Lead Generators, a market that triggers genuine urgency, and a business that treats its top performers like the commercial assets they are.
Northern Gas and Power is looking for experienced B2B closers to join one of the highest-earning sales floors in the sector. You’ll manage a team of Lead Gens who will build your pipeline. Your job is to convert by conducting pricing conversations, managing tender processes, negotiating with suppliers, and closing contracts with UK businesses of all sizes.
The Commercial Reality
- You’ll be assigned one or more Lead Generators who will prospect and qualify opportunities for your pipeline
- Your focus will be deal management, pricing discussions, supplier tender coordination, objection handling, and contract close
- Your sales cycle will range from same-day closes to 6-month enterprise negotiations, depending on the account
- You’ll lead customer relationships through procurement cycles, contract renewals, referrals, and market volatility
- Commission is uncapped. On average, our Closers earned £350,000 last year!
What You’ll Be Doing
- Closing energy procurement contracts across gas and power for commercial and industrial clients
- Leading pricing and tender conversations with confidence and commercial authority
- Managing and developing your Lead Gen team — their output directly affects your earnings
- Building long-term customer relationships that generate renewal and referral opportunities year on year
- Working with one of the best trading and procurement desks in our sector on contract structuring and supplier negotiations
- Operating to a high professional standard — preparation, follow-through, and attention to detail
What’s In It for You
- Uncapped commission — your earnings are limited only by your ability and drive
- A dedicated pipeline of qualified leads, built by your own Lead Gen team
- 23 days holiday + additional December leave (fully paid December off) + bank holidays
- Access to Simply health (money towards dental care, eyesight checks, physio, etc.)
- EV salary sacrifice scheme
- Access to gyms and on-site fitness facilities
- £2,000 Refer a Friend bonus
- Exciting incentives for excellent performers (so far this year, we’ve sent our people for VIP experiences to: Monaco Grand Prix, Tomorrowland, Champions League matches, Royal Ascot, Wimbledon to name a few…)

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why Preston?
- You’ll be one of the founding Closers at our brand-new Preston office — premium city-centre workspace with air conditioning throughout, meeting rooms, breakout areas, and modern technology
- Build your own team from scratch. Shape how things are done. The first Closers in Preston will define the culture of this office

- No more commuting to Bolton, Blackpool, or Kirkham — if you’re in Lancashire, this is the energy sales role on your doorstep
- Ground-floor opportunity: shape the culture, set the standards, and build something from Day 1 — the people who start here will be the leaders of tomorrow
- Same pay, same benefits, same technology, same support as our Gateshead HQ — but in your backyard

- You’ve not worked as a closer in a lead generator : closer set up OR you’ve not been a successful 360 consultant in the Energy sector
- You do not do well under pressure
- You struggle to motivate and develop those around you
- You prefer to work independently
- You want to work remotely — this is office-based in Preston, Monday to Thursday (WFH Fridays)

About our People
“Some of our most successful people in this role have worked their way up. They started with no pipeline and cold called to build a portfolio, they then began closing their own deals and learned the complexities of the energy market for SME business right through to I&C customers. They then started to pass on their knowledge and expertise to those around them before closing for other people and developing their own team of lead generators. The key trait of these individuals is their passion to succeed and unwavering sales mentality.”
“If this is a role you’d one day want but not quite there yet, why not consider our Sales Generator / Sales Consultant positions.”
