We are seeking motivated and talented individuals with an interest in the energy sector to join us on our journey. We are looking for someone to assist the Solutions department by providing accurate administrative support on a daily basis including to the function.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

We are looking for an apprentice to join our Solutions Team based at our Blackburn Head Office.
As an Apprentice at Vital Energi you will study a Level 3 Energy Manager Apprenticeship, whilst playing a crucial role in developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administration services within the organisation. You will have clear objectives and be supported with training which will develop your personal and professional skills along the way!

The Role

The role will involve:

  • Apply existing and develop new IT skills to draft documents and presentations on particular topics
  • Take notes in meetings and build your knowledge to support discussions
  • Review energy data (energy bills, meter readings etc.) to assist with project development
  • Sense-check and validate energy information to help ensure our projects are operating efficiently
  • Take part in site surveys to take photographs, meter readings and notes in support of project development and operation
  • Conduct independent research into energy technologies or regulations
  • Ensure all work activities are delivered in an effective, professional, and courteous manner
  • Be available for any training requirement requested by the business

What you'll learn

Course contents

  • Comply with energy regulations and legislation.
  • Comply with energy management related policies, procedures, processes, standards, specifications and codes of practice.
  • Follow health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Apply safe-working practices: risk assessments, method statements control measures and safe systems of work.
  • Apply sustainability principles and techniques.
  • Plan and prioritise own work.
  • Identify improvements to systems and process that reduce energy consumption.
  • Collect, store and report data.
  • Apply energy and water assessments and audit techniques.
  • Read, collect and record metered data.
  • Analyse utility bills.
  • Analyse and monitor energy performance data.
  • Implement energy management and decarbonisation strategies, policy or plans.
  • Identify, monitor and analyse usage of utilities and their emissions.
  • Identify options for repairs or replacements related to energy system infrastructure.
  • Apply quality assurance procedures.
  • Interpret and extract information from sources such as manufacturer's instructions, drawings, plans, specifications, or previous reports.
  • Use information technology and digital systems to monitor energy use.
  • Comply with GDPR and cyber security regulations and policies.
  • Apply policies and practices to support equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Apply team working principles.
  • Apply problem solving techniques.
  • Communicate verbally using industry specific terminology.
  • Communicate in writing using industry specific terminology.
  • Recognise limitations of their role, seek input from others and escalate issues when required.
  • Apply technical reporting writing techniques.

Training schedule

You will study for a Level 3 Energy Manager qualification designed to meet the needs of the business

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 5)
  • Maths (grade 5)

Role is based full time in our Blackburn office, candidate must be able to travel to our Blackburn office.
