About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive individual who is customer focused and committed to delivering a modern and effective service.
Specifically, we are looking to appoint an Enforcement Agent who will be responsible for undertaking enforcement activity in accordance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and Council procedures. The postholder will support the effective recovery of unpaid debts, engage professionally with customers and stakeholders, and ensure all enforcement action is completed lawfully, fairly, and sensitively.
Job Details
- Location: City centre (Howden House)
- Working Model: Hybrid (office attendance required for training, meetings, and service requirements)
- Role: Field-based with face-to-face visits with customers
- Hours: 2 full-time 37-hour vacancies
Requirements
- Experience of enforcement activity, income collection, and debt recovery processes
- Ability to work confidently, lawfully, and professionally in challenging situations
- Ability to liaise effectively with internal services, external partners, and customers in relation to enforcement action, payment arrangements, and debt management
- Excellent I.T. skills to utilize the Council’s finance, enforcement, and case management systems to record activity accurately and manage enforcement processes
- Proficient in using Microsoft 365 packages
- A flexible and professional approach, with a commitment to customer care, safeguarding, equality, and diversity, and working as part of a team

- Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement

- If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade
- Equality of pay is extremely important to us. All roles at Sheffield City Council are going through an evaluation process which may result in changes to some pay arrangements from 2026
