Enforcement Officer – Taxi Licensing
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council
Grade/Salary: Band E SCP 18-25 (£31,537 - £36,363)
Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed Term/Secondment
Hours: Full time – 37 hours per week
Location: Sandwell Council House, Freeth St Oldbury B69 3DE
We are looking for an appropriately experienced Enforcement Officer to join our Taxi Licensing Team.
If you are an excellent communicator who can work on your own initiative and you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you. You should have experience of working in an enforcement of licensing environment for a minimum period of two years. Excellent IT skills and experience of using Microsoft Office programmes is essential.
The post holder should hold or be willing to obtain qualifications offered by the National Association of Licensing & Enforcement officers (NALEO).
You will be required to:
- Address complaints from members of the public
- Inspect vehicles against our policy requirements
- Attend licensing committee as an expert witness
You will work closely with Police and other partners when investigating complaints and for proactive multi agency safety operations.

The Taxi Licensing Team operational hours are:
Monday to Thursday 9:00-17:00 and Friday 9:00-16:30
Although most work is undertaken in core office hours you will be expected to work flexibly and outside of core office hours to ensure service delivery.
You will need a full driving licence, access to a vehicle and business use insurance as travel across the borough is essential for the role.
Closing date for this position will be Friday 14 August 2026
It is anticipated that interviews will be held week commencing Monday 31 August 2026.
