Environmental Enforcement Team Leader

Location: Chichester, West Sussex (PO19 1TY)
Pay Rate: £14.50 per hour
Hours: 40+ hours per week plus overtime
Shift Pattern: 5 days per week, Monday to Sunday, working between 6:00am and 8:00pm
Contract: Temporary initially with potential to become permanent
Own Transport: Required
DBS Check: Basic DBS required

About The Role

Kingdom Local Authority Support is looking for an experienced and motivated Environmental Enforcement Team Leader to lead a team of Environmental Enforcement Officers across the Chichester area.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will lead by example, supporting your team while actively carrying out environmental enforcement duties. You will play a vital role in helping create cleaner, safer, and greener communities by tackling environmental crime and maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, motivate, and support a team of Environmental Enforcement Officers
  • Lead from the front by carrying out patrols and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs)
  • Monitor team performance and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Investigate environmental offences and respond to public concerns
  • Liaise with Local Authority partners and other key stakeholders
  • Coach, train, and develop new and existing team members
  • Prepare reports, case files, and documentation to support legal processes
  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of enforcement activities

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong communication and people management skills
  • Ability to motivate and manage team performance
  • Professional, confident, and calm under pressure
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Basic DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable

  • Previous environmental enforcement experience
  • Knowledge of Fixed Penalty Notices and environmental legislation
  • Experience working with Local Authorities
