Role Description

The Engineer role is a full-time hybrid position based in Birmingham, with a mix of on-site work at client locations and some work-from-home flexibility for planning, documentation, and coordination tasks. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Performing service, repair, and preventative maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment across bakery, hospitality, pub, and QSR environments

The Engineer will be expected to uphold high standards of customer service, follow health and safety procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement in service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills relevant to commercial kitchen, bakery, and QSR equipment, including troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
  • Hands-on experience with service, repair, and maintenance of appliances such as fryers, ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, and hot holding units, ideally across multiple branded systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications, with solid problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with clients and colleagues, including clear documentation of work completed and recommendations.
  • Organisational and time-management skills to manage service calls, prioritise tasks, and work independently in a field-based environment.
  • Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds in Engineering, Electrical Installation, or similar) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in commercial kitchen environments and safe working practices around electrical and gas equipment.
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites within the region.
