Mechanical Engineer – Pumps & Dewatering
Workshop & Field Based | Pumps | Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
Are you a hands-on engineer who enjoys fault finding, repairing equipment and solving problems out in the field?
I’m recruiting for an established specialist within the pumping and dewatering industry, looking to strengthen its engineering team with an experienced Mechanical Engineer.
The Role
You'll be responsible for keeping a fleet of pumps and associated equipment operating safely, reliably and efficiently.
- Diagnosing faults
- Servicing
- Maintaining
- Repairing and overhauling pumps and ancillary equipment, both within the depot and at customer sites
- Working with electric submersible pumps, electrically driven pumps, 415V control panels and associated electrical components, alongside the wider mechanical fleet
- Planned preventative maintenance
- Breakdown response
- Completing service and QHSE documentation
- Ensuring work is consistently delivered to a high standard
- Supporting and developing less experienced engineers and apprentices within the team

What We're Looking For
We're looking for a practical engineer and natural problem solver who is comfortable getting hands-on with equipment.
You'll ideally have:
- A recognised mechanical or electrical apprenticeship
- 18th Edition electrical qualification
- At least two years' experience within a service or maintenance environment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding, servicing and repair experience
- Experience using appropriate tooling and diagnostic equipment
- The confidence to work independently at customer sites
- Good communication and customer-facing skills
- A full UK driving licence
Previous experience with pumps or dewatering equipment would be highly advantageous, but we're also interested in engineers from transferable backgrounds including plant hire, equipment rental, generators, compressors, utilities, construction equipment and other electro-mechanical machinery.
