About the Role
At McDermotts, we’re seeking an experienced Engineering/Surveyor to join our dynamic civil engineering team, specialising in groundworks and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Engineering within the construction sector, with proven experience working with CAD & GPS systems.
Main Responsibilities
Working under the guidance and management of senior members of the surveying team, the successful candidate will:
- Assist with engineering surveying activities on a variety of construction and infrastructure projects.
- Learn and develop proficiency in 3D modelling and digital construction workflows.
- Support the setup, calibration, and operation of GPS/GNSS surveying equipment.
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of site control networks and survey control systems.
- Learn the setup, configuration, and management of machine control systems for construction plant.
- Process survey information and assist in the production of survey deliverables.
- Maintain accurate survey records and documentation.
Requirements:
- Strong CAD skills and presentation
- Substantial knowledge of Total stations
- Prior knowledge of GPS systems
- Strong communication skills and working as part of a team
- Microsoft suite and report writing

Desirable:
- Substantial knowledge of GPS systems
- Microsoft suite and report writing
- Prior knowledge of construction machine control

Training and Development
The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training in:
- Engineering surveying techniques and best practices.
- 3D modelling software and digital engineering workflows.
- GPS/GNSS survey equipment and data management.
- Site control establishment and management.
- Machine control installation, setup, and support.
- Survey data processing and reporting.
- Construction technology and emerging surveying systems.
