Requirements
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong software engineering background with production experience in modern languages/frameworks (TypeScript, Python, Java, or similar)
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code (or equivalent agentic CLI tooling — Cursor, Codex CLI, Cline, Aider): writing custom skills, building subagents, configuring MCP servers, and integrating AI tooling into development workflows
- Demonstrable experience with AI-native development practices: prompt-first development, AI pair programming, agent-assisted code review
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitLab), Git workflows, and platform tooling — able to modernise and improve existing setups
- Experience working embedded within engineering teams (not just isolated delivery)
- Ability to coach and upskill other engineers through pairing, demos, and knowledge transfer
- Comfortable with ambiguity — able to assess an unfamiliar codebase, identify improvement opportunities, and prioritise pragmatically
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Background in DevOps or platform engineering (infrastructure-as-code, container orchestration, observability)
- Familiarity with financial services engineering environments (regulated change processes, security constraints)
- Experience contributing to or maintaining internal developer platforms or golden path tooling
- Knowledge of software delivery metrics (DORA, cycle time, deployment frequency) and how to improve them
Job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy into product squads as part of the discovery and landing phase — assess current state, contribute to the transformation backlog, and begin immediate delivery alongside the team
- Drive tech debt reduction and pipeline modernisation within the engineering team’s production codebase during the early modernisation phase
- Author and maintain AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md context files that capture product knowledge for LLM-assisted development
- Inject centrally-published platform assets (agents, templates, CI/CD patterns) into live repositories during the rollout phase, ensuring they integrate cleanly with existing workflows
- Build custom Claude Code (or equivalent agentic CLI tooling) skills and subagent architectures tailored to the squad’s domain — automating repetitive tasks, code generation, and review workflows
- Coach squad engineers on AI-native delivery habits: prompt-first PRs, agent-assisted reviews, effective use of Claude Code (or equivalent agentic CLI tooling) in daily development
- Feed learnings, patterns, and reusable assets back to the Central Platform Team for inclusion in the centrally-available components
