Engineering Instructor
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Instructor with a technical engineering background to join our Training School in Chelmsford, Essex.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to share your expertise and help train and develop the next generation of Subsea Jointing professionals within the submarine telecommunications cable industry.
Working within our established training facility, you will deliver practical and theoretical training in Universal Jointing (UJ), related jointing technologies, and other specialist cable jointing disciplines for both internal employees and external customers from around the world.
We would also like to encourage experienced Cable Jointers who are seeking their next onshore career move into a training-focused role to apply.
Key Deliverables
- Maintain the Training School schedule of planned courses.
- Manage and deliver training courses by carrying out planned training for internal and external customer Jointers in accordance with UJ Consortium procedures and the Company's requalification processes.
- Adapt and deliver training to account for the cultural backgrounds of those being trained, tailoring your coaching style to support trainees in successfully completing the required training.
- Ensure all equipment is available at the designated training site and materials are replenished for future courses.
- Upon completion of training, ensure all trainees carry out post-joint maintenance on the tools and equipment used to construct joints. This should form part of the training programme to instil good housekeeping practices and ensure equipment is maintained to the required standards.

Required
- Possess a training qualification.
- Be an established Instructor/Trainer with a technical engineering background and be willing to train as a Universal Jointer (an extensive training programme will be provided).
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self-reliant and resourceful, with the ability to use your own initiative.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to adapt communication styles and training methods to support a diverse international customer base.
- Ability and willingness to switch disciplines from one task to another in order to maximise efficiency within the team.
Ideal
- Experience working with and supporting individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, adapting communication and training styles to meet varying needs.
- A competent and experienced Jointer who is fully conversant with UJ, UC, and UQJ technologies.
Location: This role is based on-site in our Chelmsford Head Office, 5 days a week.
