Job Summary
To provide line level and control for setting out the building and associated works in compliance with the specifications and ER’s in the contract. This may be either in a checking capacity (when we subcontract) or as a primary setting out engineer employed by Glencar. Our Engineers are responsible for compliance within the specified tolerance for a particular task / element of a construction project.

Duties & Responsibilities
- To provide engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered
- Responsible for setting out works constructed within allowable tolerances, as well as the preparation of sketches, providing and maintaining setting out / dimensional control, ensuring setting out works are delivered to site with the required certificates
- Appreciation of construction programming
- Maintain survey equipment including registers of equipment and testing regimes
- Read and determine information from drawings, schedules and specification – check for errors and design clashes and report / raise RFI’s to resolve
- Establish and check regularly primary control for the project
- Assist with Temporary Works Coordinator role
- Provide information for the appointed TWC on project to allow TW designs and checks to be carried out
- Interprets and abstracts construction information from the drawings and specification and provides this to the supervisors and operatives in a clear and understandable way using sketches
- Ensure engineering grade materials are inspected in line with quality standards and comply with civil specifications
- Produce as-built drawings & records for every element of the works
- Complete Quality Check Sheets and production of information for handover documentation in a timely manner in line with the project timescales
- Ensure that works are being carried out and completed to an appropriate standard and level of detail.
- Raise Non Conformance Report (NCR) for all non conformances and reports potential non-conformances
- Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and interpret that they cover the specified quality requirements
- Implements the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and the Request for Witness and Approval (RWA) procedures
- Carries out quality control checks using internal check sheets where appropriate
- Maintain accurate records of site discussions, photographs and relevant progress
- Contribute to collection of data for Key Performance Indicators, including reasons for difference
- Assist with external contractors’ installation works
- Assist/ Produce Permit to break ground
- To work in line with the project/ client spec and ensure other engineers and project managers are aware and can understand the principals of these documents
- Undertake management of internal engineering and quality resource and subcontractors where applicable
- Produce site documentation for the quality assurance items of the project
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other areas of the Glencar business to provide exceptional support
- To work to the Company’s Quality, Environmental and Safety Management System standards and performance criteria including delivering the objectives set
- To co-operate on matters of health and safety and follow the training provided. To take reasonable care of personal and other’s health and safety at all times
- Any other duties consistent with the role of Engineer as may be required from time to time.
- Awareness of and adherence to company policies and health and safety requirements.

Qualifications/Experience

- A degree (or equivalent) in Engineering
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with clear and evident knowledge/ background working as an Engineer or gaining industry knowledge in a relevant field (Engineer or Senior only)
- Competent IT skills – proficient in CAD programmes, also with understanding of Microsoft suite of programmes (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
