Overview
We are looking for a contract Engineer to join an Energy Tech start-up, to build out their proof of concept (as a first stage).
They need someone who can:
- Built 0-1 and work fully end to end (full platform ownership experience).
- Architect and build solo (with guidance from the founders).
You'll be building their event driven integration layer, retry/idempotency/reconciliation logic against an external partner API, telemetry ingestion at volume, and a pluggable decisioning engine with safety guardrails.

Essential experience
- Java/Kotlin or Typescript and AWS.
- Connected-devices, DERMS/VPP, smart charging, or industrial IoT.
Please note, this isn't a DevOps/platform-infra role, cloud and CI/CD are a small slice of it. The core is backend architecture and integration logic for systems that talk to unreliable external APIs and have to reconcile state.

Rate and Working Setup
- £500-650 per day, outside IR35
- Initial 3 month contract, 17th August start.
- Must be UK or Europe based.
