Engineer, Server and Storage

In our continuous journey of growth and innovation at Carnival UK, we are seeking an Engineer, Server and Storage to bring fresh insights and expertise to our technology department. This pivotal role will involve:

  • Administering and supporting critical server and storage infrastructure across Carnival UK head office, global locations and cruise ships.
  • Providing second and third-line support, investigating incidents and problems, and driving root cause analysis and service improvements.
  • Delivering complex technical project activities alongside project managers, architects and third-party suppliers.
  • Maintaining system availability, performance, backup and recovery capabilities while supporting the implementation of new technologies.
  • Building, configuring, patching and maintaining Windows Server and Linux systems using approved standards and images.
  • Supporting VMware platforms, enterprise storage and associated physical server infrastructure to maintain secure, resilient and reliable services.
  • Automating repeatable activities using technologies such as PowerShell, Ansible and shell scripting to simplify processes and improve consistency.

This role is positioned at CUK09 level within our organisation and is available on a full-time, permanent basis. We offer hybrid work including up to two days from home.

  • Proven experience in a Server Engineer or third-line support role within complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as VMware and hyperconverged infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy and core infrastructure services including DNS and DHCP.
  • A strong understanding of backup, disaster recovery and IT service management principles, supported by relevant professional IT qualifications.
  • Practical experience administering enterprise Linux systems, ideally Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Oracle Linux.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise storage, SAN technologies, data protection and recovery principles.
  • Strong skills in maintaining support documentation, building standards, operational procedures and knowledge articles.
  • Experience using automation and scripting tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, Bash or Python to improve operational efficiency.
