Structural Engineer
Salary/package: Up to £55k and comprehensive company benefits
Location: Hybrid working with visit to Winchester 2 times per week
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide a professional structural engineering service to support the delivery of broadcast and telecommunication infrastructure projects including providing structural designs and specifications.
- The assessment (analysis) of telecommunication structures (masts, towers and other antenna support structures) for new equipment installations.
- Auditing of structural designs and handover documents produced by third party organisations.
- Planning, specifying and instructing structural works necessary to ensure the safety and integrity of Arqiva’s structural portfolio in order to meet serviceability requirements.
- Ensures the accuracy and completeness of structural data in the asset management system.
- Identifies and implements improvements to data, systems and processes as required.
- Supports the team in achieving the aim of being specialists in the field of mast and tower engineering contributing to a central core of technical expertise.
- Helps to identify and evaluate structural risks and promotes an effective Safety, Health and Environment culture to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
- To develop new skills and experience in the area of structural health monitoring and dynamics.
- Maintains a secure working environment in line with the requirements of the Arqiva Security Policy in order to protect individuals, information and Arqiva assets.
- Promotes a positive culture of being open and honest, working together as a team, supporting colleagues and collaborating to achieve Arqiva’s goals.

Qualifications:
Must haves:
- A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline approved by the Engineering Council Institutions as an approved qualification for MICE or MIStructE.
- Actively working towards Incorporated or Chartered status.
Might haves:
- A Chartered or Incorporated Engineer
Experience/Expertise:
Must haves:
- Experience in structural analysis and the design of steel structures.
- A working knowledge of the following codes: BSEN 1991: Actions on structures, BSEN 1993: Design of steel structures.
- Experience of working in a project environment, supporting project managers and producing project documents e.g. designers risk assessments.
- A highly engaged individual with experience in working in a team environment, contributing to achieve team goals.
Might haves:
- Experience in the analysis and design of steel lattice masts and towers.
- Experience in concrete design and other structural materials.
- A working knowledge of the following codes: BS EN 1993-3-1 Design of steel structures – towers, masts and chimneys and BS8100 – lattice towers and masts.
Technical / Professional Skillset(s):
Must haves:
- Use of structural analysis tools and a good understanding of structural behavior.
- Ability to produce well written, concise and accurate scopes of work, specifications and reports for projects, senior management and customers.
- Computer literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office applications e.g. Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc. and reporting tools e.g. Qliksense.
- Ability to make technical and rational judgements based upon technical data.
