Role Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join Allianz Engineering Inspection Services as a Lift & Crane Engineer Surveyor. As part of Allianz, one of the world's leading insurance and risk management organisations, you'll join a nationwide network of over 700 engineering inspection professionals, helping customers operate safely, manage risk and meet their legal obligations.
Whether you're already working within engineering inspection or have a qualification in a mechanical engineering related discipline and are looking to apply your skills in a specialist inspection and compliance role, this position offers the opportunity to build a rewarding career within a respected and growing industry.
As a Lift & Crane Engineer Surveyor, you'll carry out statutory inspections of lifts, cranes, lifting equipment, materials handling equipment and associated plant across a variety of customer sites. Using your engineering knowledge and practical experience, you'll provide expert guidance that supports safe and compliant operations.
Working independently across your allocated area, you'll build strong customer relationships while managing your own inspection schedule. You'll be supported by experienced Engineer Surveyors and Team Leaders, with access to ongoing technical development and a comprehensive induction and training programme.
This is a varied, hands-on role involving inspections across industrial, commercial and construction environments, including working at height and accessing a range of operational settings where required.
Salary Information
- Pay: Starting from £45,539 per year + Company Car
- Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

Essential Skills
- Level 3 qualification (or above) in a mechanical engineering related discipline.
- Practical engineering experience working with lifts, cranes, materials handling equipment, lifting equipment or similar mechanical plant.
- Experience gained within maintenance, repair, servicing, manufacturing, installation, testing or inspection environments.
- Full UK driving license.
- Effective organisational and time-management skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Competent in the use of tablets, smartphones and digital reporting systems.

Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working as an Engineer Surveyor.
- Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER and associated lifting equipment legislation, regulations and industry standards.
- Experience carrying out statutory inspections, thorough examinations or compliance assessments.
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or working towards professional registration.
- Experience across a broad range of lifting equipment, cranes, materials handling equipment or other industrial plant.
- Understanding of lifting operations, crane systems, passenger and goods lifts, hoists or construction plant.
