About the team

You’ll be joining a collaborative and inclusive Technology team that plays a key role in delivering high-quality data, via reliable and secure software services for Ordnance Survey and our customers.

Our Technology teams are responsible for:

  • Building and maintaining scalable software products and services using modern engineering practices

  • Embracing opportunities for learning, mentoring and continuous improvement

We keep how we work simple and clear, so everyone can contribute and move forward together.

About the role

These roles are an opportunity to make a genuine contribution to Ordnance Survey's mission. You’ll design, build and maintain Cloud infrastructure components in the Microsoft Azure platform, using iterative delivery approaches, while helping to improve engineering standards and supporting other engineers.

In the role, you will:

  • Configure, deploy and maintain Cloud infrastructure, to ensure our systems - both internal and customer-facing are running effectively
  • Apply and promote best practice engineering patterns to optimise delivery
  • Ensure our systems are secure, robust and well-tested
  • Support and operate services in production, identifying and resolving issues
  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver valuable outcomes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, processes and ways of working
  • Support and mentor other engineers in your area of expertise

We aim to provide a realistic picture of the role, the challenges involved and the impact you can have.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Security & Eligibility

OS conducts pre-employment checks for anyone made an offer of employment, including identity, right to work, employment history and criminal record checks (via Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS).

Some of our roles may require additional security vetting. We will advise candidates during the recruitment process if additional vetting may be required for that specific role.

This role requires the right to work in the UK at the time of application. Unfortunately, OS cannot provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Inclusion at OS

Research shows that people from underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply unless they meet every requirement. At Ordnance Survey, we’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive and welcoming workplace.

If this role excites you but your experience doesn’t match every point, we encourage you to apply. You may be the right person for this role or another opportunity at OS.

We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that people may need during the recruitment process, and you will be asked whether you require any during the application process.
