About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Lockheed Martin team as an Engineering Placement Student for a 12-month term beginning in June 2027. The role is open to candidates who are studying a STEM related degree which includes a year in employment. Positions are available across our RMS UK business in the following locations (Havant, Gloucester, Westbury).
Candidates will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working on programmes across our different business portfolios including Airborne Mission systems, Synthetic Training Systems and C6ISR. You will work as part of a team on real programmes where you will gain practical experience and knowledge across the engineering lifecycle, and experience working with different engineering disciplines such as systems engineering, systems integration, test & acceptance and software development. Your learning and development will be further supported through mentoring from professional engineers to ensure a flying start to your career.

Roles and Responsibilities
Requirements Engineering And Concept Of Operations
- Work with systems engineers to help define, document and maintain requirements related to functional requirements at a system, sub-system and software level.
Design Definition
- Work with systems and software engineers to capture architectures and define technical solutions that meet the needs of our customers

Detailed Design & Build
- Work with systems, software and specialist engineers to implement the solutioned detailed design for embedded and application level software systems
Integration and Test
- Work with integration and test engineers as technical solutions are integrated through from sub-system to complete system, and product verification, validation and acceptance.
- Producing, collecting and reporting appropriate metrics showing progress
- Using metrics to guide decisions and for management reporting
- Getting involved with analysis and investigations of technical problems
Required Skills, Qualifications And Experience
- Working towards a degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or other STEM related degrees.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Good IT skills in a range of software packages.
- Ability to prioritise own tasking to meet program needs.
