Maintenance Engineering Manager
Location: Near Selby, North Yorkshire
Salary: £60,000–£65,000 per annum, negotiable + benefits
Hours: Monday to Friday
Staffbase have been appointed to recruit a Maintenance Engineering Manager for a highly successful recycling business operating a large-scale heavy industrial processing plant near Selby.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Manager or Engineering Manager with strong electrical and mechanical engineering experience and a proven track record of leading maintenance teams within a heavy industrial, manufacturing or processing environment.
The Role
As Maintenance Engineering Manager, you will take responsibility for managing and controlling all planned and reactive maintenance activities across the site, alongside supporting commissioning and CAPEX engineering projects.
You will lead a small team of maintenance engineers and manage external contractors, ensuring plant and machinery are maintained safely, efficiently and reliably.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Develop, implement and maintain an effective PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) system
- Manage and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities
- Lead and support a small team of maintenance engineers
- Manage external contractors and engineering service providers
- Plan, manage and control maintenance activities and engineering projects
- Support commissioning and CAPEX projects
- Monitor, source and order spare parts and replacement components
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, improved efficiency and cost savings
- Ensure appropriate training, recruitment and performance management requirements are met
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, company procedures and HSE requirements
- Provide hands-on electrical and mechanical engineering support when required
- Support the ongoing reliability and availability of plant and machinery

The Candidate
We are looking for an experienced and confident Maintenance Engineering Manager / Maintenance Manager / Senior Maintenance Engineer / Engineering Manager with strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge and previous supervisory or management experience.
Ideally, you will have:
- Minimum 5 years' maintenance management or supervisory experience
- Strong electrical and mechanical engineering skills
- Experience working within heavy industry, manufacturing or industrial processing
- Previous experience in sectors such as recycling, chemical processing, plastics, metals, foundry, quarrying or similar environments
- Proven experience leading maintenance engineers and external contractors
- A recognised electrical engineering qualification, such as HNC, HND, degree or equivalent
- 18th Edition electrical qualification/certification would be advantageous
- Good knowledge and understanding of PLC systems
- Experience using CMMS maintenance systems
- Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements; IOSH or NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous
- Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills
- A practical, hands-on approach to engineering and maintenance
