Stoke Calgaz (I) - Industrial spec gas

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

You will learn and obtain experience in the fundamentals of mechanical engineering within the gas mixing and transfilling industry, you will also receive training at college and you will study part-time throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. You will be taught, and put into practice, engineering skills which will be key for a Maintenance engineering role at Calgaz. Your apprenticeship will last for a minimum of 3 years, during which time you will work within our Engineering team.

Key / Specific Responsibilities (Hard Skills)

In the role of Mechanical Engineering Apprentice you will be required to develop the engineering knowledge and practical skills to gain a high level of competence to:

  • Repair mechanical components
  • Carry out planned maintenance work
  • Log results on the company computerized maintenance management system
  • Install high pressure pipework and associated valves and fittings
  • Read and understand piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Understand how to specify the correct materials and fittings for specific tasks
  • Risk assessments and management of permits to work

Alongside your engineering skills you will develop your interpersonal and professional abilities by fulfilling the type of tasks and behaviors outlined below:

  • Interacting with other business functions to work towards common goals
  • Actively looking for ways to contribute to Calgaz objectives of speed, quality and customer experience
  • Joining, participating and leading meetings related to your job function or projects
  • Acting as a role model for safety and encouraging this mindset
  • Treating all colleagues with respect and acting with integrity at all times
  • Participating in Airgas University training (online)
  • Actively participating in regular 1-2-1’s with your line manager to identify strengths and development areas
  • Regularly provide feedback to your line manager regarding support you need or ideas which you would like to try.
