Engineering Buyer
A successful and growing manufacturer of bespoke food processing equipment and engineering systems is looking to recruit an Engineering Buyer to join its expanding team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional with a technical or engineering background to take a key role in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing engineered components, raw materials, tooling, and technical services.
Working closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams, you will help ensure the business secures the right materials and services at the right cost, quality, and lead time.
The Role
You will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing technical components and materials from approved suppliers, interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials, and negotiating pricing and commercial terms.
The role will also involve managing supplier relationships and performance, identifying cost-saving opportunities, resolving supply and quality issues, and supporting New Product Introduction through the sourcing of prototype and production materials.
You will work closely with internal departments and suppliers to ensure purchased items meet the required technical, quality, and regulatory standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
