Job Title: Engineering Buyer

Location: Newcastle, Tyne and Wear

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Buyer to join a global engineering business. This position offers the chance for an Engineering Buyer to take ownership of key procurement activities, develop strategic supplier relationships, and play an important role in the delivery of complex projects.

The Role

As an Engineering Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing materials, services, and equipment while ensuring cost, quality, and delivery objectives are achieved. The Engineering Buyer will work closely with project teams, engineers, and suppliers to support ongoing and future projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop sourcing and commodity strategies.
  • Manage supplier relationships and lead commercial negotiations.
  • Prepare RFQs and purchase orders from technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure timely procurement of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Support cost control, risk management, and supply chain improvement initiatives.

About You

  • Previous purchasing experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or project-based environment.
  • Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • MCIPS qualification or relevant business-related degree advantageous.
