Job Description

Launch your engineering career with Lear and the University of Warwick.

This exciting Degree Apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain a fully funded BEng in Applied Professional Engineering via the Product Design and Development Engineer route while earning a salary and building valuable industry experience with one of the world's leading automotive suppliers.

Working within Lear's Seating Development team, you'll help design, develop and validate innovative seating systems used by some of the world's largest automotive manufacturers. From supporting product development projects to solving real engineering challenges, you'll gain hands-on experience while learning from experienced engineers, technical specialists and mentors.

Starting in September 2027, this four-year Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship (plus End Point Assessment) combines academic study at the University of Warwick with practical workplace experience at Lear. Throughout the programme you'll develop the technical knowledge, professional skills and industry experience needed to begin your career as a Project Engineer.

As your confidence and capability grow, you'll contribute to engineering projects, support the creation of technical specifications, participate in product testing and validation activities, and apply structured problem-solving techniques to support the delivery of world-class automotive seating systems.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
