Senior Engineering Leader (Data Hub) – Precision AQ

At Precision AQ, we are building a Data Hub, a centralized platform team responsible for consolidating legacy data infrastructure, establishing an enterprise data foundation, governance, and enabling AI/ML capabilities across the organization. The Data Hub is advancing from strategy to execution, with a clear mandate to consolidate fragmented data pipelines into a governed, scalable platform that serves multiple business units.

We are now hiring an engineering leader to build and scale the team.


Job Summary

Stand up and grow a high-performing engineering team while owning day-to-day operations, technical decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Engineering Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers, analytics engineers, and platform engineers. Drive accountability for output, quality, and morale.
  • Sprint Delivery & Capacity: Define delivery cadences, manage sprints, and ensure realistic commitment keeping pace with evolving platform needs.
  • Technical Excellence: Lead architecture reviews, enforce code quality, and drive DevOps/GitOps practices for production reliability.
  • Primary Escalation Point: Resolve technical blockers, cross-team dependencies, and risks proactively.
  • Strategic Partnering: Collaborate with the SVP on hiring, team development, vendor relationships, and strategic planning.

Sprint Delivery & Capacity

  • Own the engineering delivery process, including sprint planning, standups, and retroactives.
  • Balance workload across migrations, greenfield builds, and feature development.
  • Ensure SLAs are met while maintaining scalability and maintainability.

Technical Design & Architecture

  • Disagree/agree principle—ensure designs align with industry best practices and our medallion data architecture.
  • Lead technical discussions, reviews, and governing architectural decisions.

Engineering Quality & Standards

  • Implement and enforce DevOps/GitOps best practices (CI/CD, testing, alerting).
  • Establish elicited review processes, clear documentation norms, and incident response protocols.

Hiring & Onboarding

  • Partner with the SVP on hiring and onboarding to build and scale effectively.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Bridge Insights Hub, Evidence Solutions, Product Solutions, and IT to translate business needs into technical scope.
  • Manage dependencies with Security, Corporate IT, and external vendors, proactively escalating risks.

Platform Operations & Reliability

  • Maintain production SLAs, monitoring, and incident escalation workflows.
  • Improve observability and stability through evolving platform maturity.

Education & Experience

Core Competencies

  • 5–8+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform engineering.
  • 3+ years leading engineering teams, specializing in hiring, performance management, and accountability.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data stacks, including:
    • Cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred).
    • Transformation frameworks (dbt, Spark, Numeric, Dataform).
    • Orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Nextflow).
  • Proven track record in migrations, consolidations, and greenfield platforms.
  • Navigated regulated or compliance-sensitive environments with best practices.
  • Ownership mentality—can code review, debug production issues, and make sound architectural decisions.
