Engineering Leader

We are seeking a full-time Engineering Leader with a strong technical background and the ability to provide engineering leadership across multidisciplinary projects.

This role is suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys leading technical teams, guiding engineering decisions, mentoring colleagues, and maintaining high standards of technical excellence. The role requires a Chartered Engineer or someone working towards chartership. While formal line management is not essential, you will provide technical leadership, influence project outcomes, and support the development of others.

Your Impact in this Position

In this role, you will provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering projects, leading engineering decision-making and providing technical assurance. You will review and approve technical deliverables, reports, and specifications, while mentoring and supporting engineers to foster technical excellence. Working collaboratively with clients and stakeholders, you will help resolve complex challenges, promote innovation, quality, and continuous improvement, maintain knowledge of relevant standards and industry best practice, and promote high standards of health, safety, quality, and professional practice.

  • Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering projects.

  • Mentor and support engineers, fostering technical excellence.
  • Promote the development of engineering capability through technical leadership and guidance.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work collaboratively with clients and stakeholders to resolve complex challenges.
  • Support multidisciplinary engineering teams to achieve successful project outcomes.

Technical Governance

  • Support technical governance and assurance activities.
  • Influence engineering decisions across multidisciplinary projects through sound technical leadership.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Chartered Engineer with a relevant professional institution.
  • Significant experience leading engineering teams or technical delivery.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop engineers.
  • Ability to produce and review high-quality technical documentation.
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong accountability for technical quality.

Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, working with major clients and complex programmes, and supporting business growth and technical capability development would be advantageous.

  • Ideally hold a degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • Ability to gain Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional institution.
  • Continued professional development to maintain Chartered status, leadership and management development, and opportunities to develop technical specialisms and strategic leadership skills.

Working Environment

  • Ability to obtain and maintain UK security clearance.
  • A full UK driving licence may be required for site and client visits.
