We're searching for a London-based Director, Engineering to join our engineering team, so that we can deliver integrated solutions that advance safer, better healthcare for all. The Director, Engineering will lead and coordinate engineering teams across multiple technical domains, guiding technical strategy and delivery excellence to align engineering investment with our strategic business goals. You will establish operational objectives, manage medium-term projects, and translate complex technical concepts into actionable business outcomes while navigating ambiguity and aligning teams with organisational priorities.
How You'll Spend Your Time
- Guiding integrated engineering strategies and translating complex business requirements into actionable technical roadmaps across multiple engineering teams
- Facilitating collaboration between engineering, product, and executive stakeholders in order to define and refine solution delivery and gain alignment on priorities and outcomes
- Structuring technical problem-solving frameworks and coordinating incident response to resolve complex, interdependent system failures and maintain system reliability
- Guiding the development of comprehensive observability, monitoring, and alerting strategies in order to ensure system health, visibility, and operational excellence
- Driving structured delivery governance, CI/CD practices, and automated pipelines to enhance deployment frequency, reliability, and continuous improvement
- Mentoring and developing engineering talent across multiple disciplines in order to foster technical excellence, accountability, and a culture of continuous learning
- Overseeing substantial operational budgets to ensure resource allocation supports priority engineering initiatives and optimises cost effectiveness

What Kind of Things We're Most Interested in You Having
- Significant senior engineering leadership experience, including leading multiple teams (managers of managers) with accountability for departmental delivery, budget, and headcount planning
- Proven success building and operating cloud-based SaaS platforms at scale, with the credibility to guide architectural direction across diverse technology stacks
- In-depth knowledge of delivering software in a regulated environment (such as healthcare, life sciences, or financial services), including information security, data protection, and quality management obligations
- Proven success developing and implementing comprehensive observability, monitoring, and delivery governance strategies aligned with business objectives
- In-depth knowledge of how to navigate ambiguous technical and organisational environments, structuring decision-making frameworks and aligning team execution with evolving strategic direction
- Ability to commute to London 2 to 3 days a week
- Sincere interest in making a positive change in healthcare, with desirable exposure to healthcare data standards, patient safety, or clinical risk workflows, and experience working with globally distributed teams across the UK, APAC, Europe, and North America
