Chief Data Hub Engineering Lead
We are building a Data Hub, a foundational centralised platform team at Precision AQ, responsible for streamlining our legacy data infrastructure, establishing enterprise data governance, and enabling AI/ML capabilities organisation-wide.
The Data Hub is transitioning from strategy to execution. We have a clear vision, roadmap, executive sponsorship, and mandate to consolidate fragmented data pipelines into scaleable, governed platforms serving multiple business units.
We’re hiring an experienced engineering leader to drive this transformation.
Job Summary
Build and scale a high-performing engineering team, own daily operations, drive technical excellence, and evolve our data infrastructure into a unified, high-reliability platform.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Team Leadership
- Build, lead, and develop a data engineering, analytics engineering, and platform engineering team.
- Define expectations, conduct 1:1s, manage performance, and foster a culture where engineers thrive and grow.
- Accountable for team output quality, morale, and performance.
Sprint Delivery & Capacity Management
- Drive engineering delivery cadence (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives).
- Capacity planning for concurrent initiatives: platform builds, migrations, and feature development.
- Maintain realistic commitments and ensure timely delivery.
Technical Design & Architecture
- Lead technical design reviews and architecture decisions.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with medallion data architecture principles.
- Make sound engineering decisions before production.

Engineering Quality & Standards
- Enforce best practices: code reviews, branching strategy, CI/CD, testing, documentation, and incident management.
- Bring standards and enforce discipline across processes.
Hiring & Team Development
- Partner with SVP of Data Hub on hiring, onboarding, and strategic team growth.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as the engineering bridge to Insights Hub, Evidence Solutions, Product Solutions, and IT.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions and manage dependencies with:
- Corporate IT
- Security teams
- External vendors
- Escalate blockers proactively to mitigate risks.
Platform Operations & Reliability
- Ensure production systems meet SLAs/Agreement levels.
- Establish monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks.
Requirements & Experience
- 5–8+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform engineering.
- 3+ years leading engineering/technical teams (hiring, performance management, delivery accountability).
- Deep experience with modern data stacks:
- Cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred).
- Transformation frameworks (dbt, Spark).
- Orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect).
- Proven track record delivering complex platform projects:
- Migrations, consolidations, greenfield builds.
- Running in regulated/compliance-sensitive environments.
- Hands-on abilities:
- Review code, debug production issues.
- Make crippling decisions under ambiguity.
- Communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
